A Community Effort Recognised: Masjid Ahmad Ibrahim Receives Merit Award at PACS 2025

On 30 July 2025, Masjid Ahmad Ibrahim was honoured with a Merit Award in the Solutioning Traffic category at the People’s Association Community Spirit (PACS) Award 2025. This recognition reflects not only years of ongoing effort but also the spirit of collaboration and care that defines our mosque’s approach in serving the Nee Soon South community.

The award was presented during a special ceremony graced by Minister Edwin Tong, who in his speech, mentioned Masjid Ahmad Ibrahim as an example of community-driven solutioning. It was a humbling and meaningful moment for our team, represented at the event by Mr Ali, our former Chairman and now Vice-Chairman, and Mosque Manager Ustaz Fachruddin Dzaki.

The recognition was based on our efforts to tackle a real challenge Friday prayer traffic congestion that worsened after a nearby mosque went under renovation. Instead of letting tensions rise, our team went straight to the ground. We engaged in conversations with Springleaf residents, grassroots leaders, authorities, and our jemaah to co-develop practical, sustainable solutions.

Among the initiatives were:

  • Regular feedback sessions with the Community Club and congregants

  • A sustainable network of volunteer traffic marshals

  • Real-time traffic updates on our social media channels

One touching highlight was when a nearby church offered their parking lots to help ease congestion a beautiful example of interfaith support and kampung spirit.

Beyond traffic management, we also collaborated on programmes like:

  • Hijrah Night Cycling with the Community Club

  • Karnival Kampung & Racial Harmony Day celebrations

These efforts didn’t just solve logistical issues; they brought people together. The journey became less about traffic, and more about mutual respect, shared space, and building trust.

This award is a quiet reminder of what can be achieved when we put community first, listen more, and act together. We thank People’s Association, our neighbours, partners, and volunteers and look forward to continuing this spirit of collaboration in years to come.
